To eat or not to eat?

I need more oatmeal toppings... i have only banana, coconut, and pb today.
So I have a little dilemma going on. Last night one of my friends turned 20 and we celebrated with some cake. There was a HUGE group of people there to surprise her, she is very loved by a lot of people. Including me! :D
What I was wondering was, do I eat the cake or no? I did last night, but I normally don't really enjoy sheet cake that much, I just tastes so generic and packaged to me, especially with commercial frosting. If it were possible, I could have declined the slice when it was passed around and no one would mind at all (or even notice!). If you don't enjoy an indulgence and are eating it for mostly social purposes (or mindless eating), is it OK to reject it and save for something better?
I say YES. I will save for frozen yogurt, some dark chocolate, ice cream, or for when I make the next batch of cookies. I will enjoy those indulgences so much more!

Love Shack <3

Forgive the pun: I've been "shacked up" in the house alone for most of V-day. And yet, I am so happy today. I have no boy in my life, but I am so rested and appreciative of the people in my life. Even though I may not feel like the most important person in their lives, I am so glad to be in their lives. So I spent a good part of today loving on them, facebook messages and phone calls. Hahaha, I know, I'm such an intimate person.
I am also loving myself, trying to rest and recover from an exhausting quarter and heal my mind, body, and soul. It was very restful. I was so excited because, not only did I work out today, I did yoga for the first time! On youtube! Hahahhahaa I loved it and want to continue. I also realized how inflexible I have become.
Tonight is sushi night! yummm I'm excited. Bryan is treating me out, thank goodness for friends who know exactly what you need and won't let you be alone! He is awesome.

Blueberry Oats

ack, I'm sick today!! That's what happens after the only 4 days of the year that San Diego gets rain....
I'm just taking it easy today, no workout due to the fact that I'm sick and have to find a job/study for a midterm tomorrow. I will take a stretching break though, its not quite the same but it makes me feel much better! And I think it gets the blood flowing.
Breakfast today was SO GOOD! I had an orange before for my vitamin C, then had the best bowl of oats. I included the vanilla protein powder and blueberries, and my toppings were shredded coconut, pb from TJs, and TJs pomegranate and blueberry flakes (which are DELICIOUS). I am going to be making this again.

HYDRATE

HYDRATE.
Or else you will walk around all day in the sun and well into your kickbox cardio class you will feel the effects.
That sums up my day! My legs felt like lead at the gym today, and I over-snacked after dinner today because of the emptiness that dehydration made in me. Note to self: stay hydrated! Buy a water if you have to!

Morning Oats

Today I was feeling the need to just stretch my running muscles, so I ran a quick 3 miles around La Jolla at about 8:30. I woke up at 8 because I went to bed later than I intended; I might have to do something about these unnecessarily late nights!
It's difficult as a biochemistry student at UCSD because this is the campus that never sleeps. Not because of partying though. Our library kicks out people at 2 A.M. on a daily basis. Everyone wants to do well, especially because we have so many premed students here who MUST do well. Therefore, we all have to always be studying super diligently to keep up. Last quarter was a wake up call for me, I was having a little too much fun and not really studying like I should and my grades reflected it. I should just say, I'm not really a party girl and I don't really drink (I really only drink at home around my family) and so when I say I was having too much fun I wasn't really going wild and crazy. I just wasn't working hard!

After my little run, I had a Kath-inspired bowl of oats:
1/3 cup oatmeal
1 scoop protein powder
1/2 banana
flax seed
ground ginger and cinnamon
shredded coconut on top

It was delicious, but next time I want to try a more "tropical" bowl of oats when I use coconut, so I guess that means eliminating the ginger and cinnamon. What other flavors would go well?

That should hold me over for a while. I have A TON of work to do today and I have bible study to lead tonight, so I'm just gonna try and get by!
